Ignorance Is Bliss

I've already covered the great tire pressure debate of '08 but since the republican smear machine is still rolling (i.e. lying) on this story days after they've been proven wrong and even after McShame flip-flopped and said it's a good idea, I thought I'd bring Popular Mechanics into the debate. Let's read what they have to say on the subject:

"According to the Department of Energy, underinflated tires alone cost the country more than 1.25 billion gal. of gasoline annually—roughly 1 percent of the total consumption of 142 billion gal. According to the Annual Energy Outlook 2007, published by the Energy Information Administration, offshore drilling would increase domestic production of crude oil by only about 1 percent. "

So there you have it, the party of ignorance is still out there mocking and smearing while anyone with half a brain is acknowledging that what Obama said is true. To review, by keeping our tires properly inflated, we can, without spending or investing a single penny, and without causing any additional harm or damage to the environment, conserve roughly the exact same amount of oil that the republicans would be able to produce through off shore drilling. But the oil companies don't make money off of the air that goes into tires so obviously the republicans are against tire inflation.
