I read a letter to the editor this morning that was pro-Trophy VP and as an example of her leadership experience cited that she is the governor of the largest state in the union. This is such a gigantic piece of fluff that I can't believe that people are repeating it, let alone using it as a possible reason for voting for the Trophy VP's ticket.
To put this silliness to rest, let's look at the 2006 U.S. Census numbers. The entire state of Alaska has a population of 670,053. That's a lot of empty land she is governing. Now let's compare the population of Alaska to a typical American city like Columbus, Ohio, population 733,203. That's right, little old Columbus has more people living within its city limits than the entire state of Alaska. That doesn't even factor in all of the people living in suburban Columbus. I rest my case.
The other truly hilarious fluff piece I keep hearing repeated is that Trophy VP has substantial foreign policy experience due to Alaska's close proximity to Canada and Russia. I can guarantee you that this woman has never, ever in her entire political career dealt with a single issue regarding Alaska vs Russia. I would wager that she has never even had a conversation with a Russian government official. I mean, this is an absolute joke. And this is all the republicans have to run on. It's a pocket full of empty.
