Someone, for some reason, typed in "terrorist costume" on amazon.com and only one entry turned up. A Barack Obama halloween mask. Here's the story. Amazon was made aware of the issue and they promptly pulled the item or at least the search term. But let's take a quick look at this, shall we?
First, before we jump all over Amazon, let's give them the benefit of the doubt. As a small business owner, I've done business with Amazon for many years and I've never had a problem. They list my products, they pay me when they sell, and they order more inventory.
I'm guessing what happened here is some dumb ass Republican (redundant?) signed up as a vendor under the AmazonAdvantage program (I'm assuming they still have this program), listed his products, and added his own search terms. I really don't think that Amazon maliciously slandered a Presidential candidate. But on the other hand, something in the back of my brain is telling me that something like this has happened before. Readers, help me out if you can remember another instance of Amazon and Democrat smearing. I'll google it if I have time. But regardless, even if there is a history here, it doesn't necessarily mean that Amazon is the culprit.
However, I really do think that it is time for the Secret Service to start stepping in and investigating these matters in a very public way. There seems to be way too many haters out there and unless an example is set, the hate/racism could very easily escalate into a very regrettable National situation. Honestly, there is no shortage of right wing whacko's out there. And now that we are on the verge of having the first ever African-American President of the United States, I don't think there is any such thing as being too cautious. These people need to be made to understand that it is not acceptable behavior whether it is shouting "terrorist" or "kill him" at a McCain rally or simply putting a mask for sale under the heading "terrorist costume". Hate and threats of violence can not and will not be tolerated. It's time to draw the line before it's too late.
UPDATE: Just doing a little research and found the following description: For the donkey party! Democrat Presidential candidate Barack Obama full over-the-head vinyl mask. Excellent detailing with a realistic look.
Obviously, some Republican tool. If the "donkey party" description wasn't enough of a hint, only the Limbaugh crowd uses the erroneous term Democrat when referring to the Democratic Party. It's one of Rush's Junior High level intelligence "cool in-jokes", I think. Or maybe he's just dumber than I think he is. I digress.
So the real "ass" (continuing with their "donkey party" theme) is a company called Jekyll and Hyde. I don't have the time or patience to track them down on line but if you want to go after someone regarding this, they're your culprit.
