MoveOn called me last night, again. They wanted to make sure that I realized that the election was only one week away (they obviously didn't know who they were talking to) and telling me that the last week was vital and could I please volunteer for 2 hours sometime between Saturday and Tuesday.
Think about that. Here we are on the verge of a political landslide victory by Obama and MoveOn is still organizing volunteers in the 11th hour. And that, "my friends", is exactly why this election will be a landslide. The Democrats just want it more. We're willing to fight until the very last minute to make sure that we get every possible vote.
Let's compare that to the McCain camp. I watched the following video yesterday where a woman went into a McCain local headquarters and started interviewing "volunteers". Before long, it was established that this branch office had no "volunteers". Every person she spoke to was being paid. That's all well and good until someone lets the cat out of the bag that the McCain "volunteers" are actually temp agency employees. I shit you not. The McCain camp apparently couldn't drum up enough volunteers and actually had to resort to hiring a temp agency to go do "volunteer" work. And I won't even get into the violent, angry, confrontational approach the McCain "leader" exhibits when he comes out, covers the camera lens with his hand and repeatedly threatens to have her arrested. Kudos to the reporter who finally tells the blowhard to "go ahead and start that process" while she keeps her cool and continues her report. See a pattern here?
Enjoy, this is beautiful.
