So they trotted out the Trophy VP in one last desperate attempt to paint Obama as a terrorist lover. I thought this would be a good time to remind everyone how the Trophy VP's husband was a member of an America hating secessionist organization as recently as 2002. And that the Trophy VP is a former attendee of this organization's annual conference and even recorded a video greeting for the 2008 conference. Country first! Wink, wink.
I didn't get "the list", so I'm confused. Can you tell me, which anti-American hate groups it is OK to associate with and which one's will get you labeled a Muslim, terrorist loving, America hating negro? It's so hard to keep these things straight.
Mom? Dad? I'm thinking about a career in politics. Can you help me remember, have I ever met or been in the same room as anyone who might have said or done something that might be considered "un-American"? You know, maybe some adult that came to the house for a party when I was, oh let's just say 8 years old? Because something like that could really come back to haunt me. If there's a Bill Ayers in my closet, it's best I find out now.
OK. A little belated context for those in need:
Sarah Palin declared, "This is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who targeted their own country."
The New York Times article, which prompted Palin's remarks, actually concluded that "the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers."
CNN Political Ticker evaluated Palin's "palling" charges and concluded, "False. There is no indication that Ayers and Obama are now palling around, or that they have had an ongoing relationship in the past three years. Also, there is nothing to suggest that Ayers is now involved in terrorist activity or that other Obama associates are....CNN's review of project records found nothing to suggest anything inappropriate in the volunteer projects in which the two men were involved."
